A Evening at Naples – Jadon’s Assignment

Jadon sent me a text while with some friends at the Naples Canals in Long Beach. He challenged my friend Andrew and myself to take 5 images that encompassed our night at the Canals. Here… look 😐

Happy New Year!!! – Fundraising

(ignore this but yes, my last post was in October, I realize this)

Happy New Year!!!

With every collection of new photos and video (speaking of video, I’ll need to do a post on “Ryan’s First Time to Arby’s”) I always try to do a blog post, as was the original intent for this page as a showcase blog. I’ve been shooting a little more here and there, but nothing I was overly excited to share, however, I still feel it’s good practice to continue posting whenever I can, which I’ve again, failed to sustain. With that being said, here’s to the New Year, and subsequently a new start. Now on to the content.

I hope everyone had an enjoyable New Year’s Eve. I did as I found myself in the company of nothing but a bunch wonderful individuals. My friends Katie & Josh, whom are planning to go to Israel in the next few months to do mission work, held a little fundraising party for the cause.

Here, look and see:

Shooting Anthony

Last week, my friend Anthony and I headed over to Gum Grove Park in Seal Beach and spent about an hour taking some headshots. I was quite pleased with how they turned out.

That being said, I’ve been very back & forth about what to actually classify this type of photography. From what I’ve been able to gather, this kind of photography is more “fashion” than “portraiture”, but fashion wasn’t my goal.

Anthony desired to have these picture taken because he wants to get into acting, so we’re helping each other out, which is cool. Here’s my little issue, though. I’m trying to launch my portfolio because Adobe is awesome (sometimes) and I just found out they provide you with a portfolio site (myportfolio.com), so I bought a URL (jonbrucemedia.com) and was finally able to link them. BUT!, my other photography I used to consider it “event” photography, and I googled “event photography examples” and none of my stuff really looks like that, it’s more lifestyle/photojournalism/documentary style. So, all that being said, I don’t know what to categorize that specific gallery on my portfolio.

……. I’ll figure it out.

The Big Four-Oh

Last Saturday, my friend Sid held his birthday party at his home and invited me to come hang out and celebrate with him, so I did. We even played Musical Chairs, which I was the first to lose 😔.

this happened 😂

and there was a Piñata! 🤗

Look! a Picture 😯

According to my last blog, it’s been 74 days since I’ve posted anything.

How bad is that 🙈!

So with that being said and after acknowledging my degree of slacker-ness, above is a picture I took of an art, posey, thing ment for practicing drawing, which can now be seen in throws of anguish as if it were crawling across a desert floor in search of a drink to quench it’s thirst; which is actually a dictionary because one day, I thought it would be a good idea to expand my vocabulary in order to raise my writing level to “College Graduate” via wordcounter.net . Great tool by the way.

Ps – apparently this was written at a 11th-12th grade level. I better use that dictionary.

Valdivia Wedding

I had the privilege of photographing a church family member’s wedding two Saturday’s back. It was a treat for me because not only was I able to earn more experience as a wedding photographer, I was also there as a friend observing two wonderful people, become one in the sight of God (Amen!). For the majority of the time, I followed the Groom around and did my best to stay out of the way of the primary photographer (Doug Kalagian) and the videographers.

Here are a few from the day:

Pre – Wedding Weekend on the Range

A handful of friends from church decided it would be fun to pay a visit to Insight in Artiesa for one of those old fashioned “Bachelor Party’s”.
